Red Cross Enrollement Ceremony 7th April 2007 - afterthoughts
Attended the Red Cross Enrollment Ceremony on 7th April 2007. It's already the 55th Anniversary of Red Cross. That's... That's pretty long, compared to my 4 years in Red Cross... *floats off*
Actually I had the intention to visit the Red Cross cadets for quite some time, I just didn't get down with it. Coincidentally, it was the ceremony today. I was actually involved in the ceremony as a Motivator when I was in Sec 2. Brought back those memories that you wouldn't be able to erase.
Reached school around 11am, about the time everyone started to get ready. Started to help the sec 1 with their uniform about 12 plus. Only 3 seniors, Chantel, Siti, Kitman were present to help them, cause the rest were attending to their Evacuation course, some were involve in the parade in the ceremony and a few I know by names were in involve in the performance. Started to rush around, like busy bees, with their stuff. Some even forgot their boots, belts etc. Got there around 1 plus, probably close to 2pm. >,< It was so hot!!! CORRECTION, actually went totally CRAZY & HIGH!!!! Had fun! And, it started RAINING!!!!! NOOOO!!!!!! I was so looking forward to the marching contingent + performance by some of my beloved cadets!!!! why does it have to rain on such a wonderful day?! *sigh* They ended up CANCELING the rest of the ceremony, cause it was LITERALLY RAINING CATS & DOGS. *just imagine cats and dogs falling from the sky* Just great, when you are having Fun, God plays a joke on you. Just Great.
To all Red Cross cadets of Hougang Secondary, thank you for brightening up my life. Was really a joy *part of my pain too* to be in the HS RC unit. May you guys shine as a Red Cross Cadets everywhere!!!
Was a little strange to attend the ceremony as an outsider cause I've already stepped out from Red Cross last year. But guess what, I think this is my calling, calling to go back to Red Cross, but not as a cadet or a Volunteer Instructor, but as someone else. It's funny, for me to say this, cause I don't really have the intention to return at all. I've always got passion for Humanitarian related stuff. I even wanted to be involved in volunteer work after my O levels. But I started working in Isetan, which really exhausted me TOTALLY. Managed to quit my job almost more than a month back.
I really hope by God's Faith, I'm actually able to do Volunteer work soon.
When you see people on TV, saying that they have only a very limited amount of income for their family, and one day they are struck with some disease that sucks out lots of their income, don't your heart goes to them...? Don't you feel something stinging in your eyes, trying to flow down your cheeks...? Don't you feel like REALLY doing something for them(other than calling THAT fund-raising hot line)...? (Crap, watch too much Extreme Makeover – Home Edition.) I don't want to sit down, and say “So-so will be able to do that/raise that sum of money for his patients, let's just seat back and watch people/them suffer even more just to get money for themselves and family etc” Hello? I ain't going to be such a person. I want to DO something, not EXPECT something. I want to take the initiative to do something. Stop stopping me when I'm taking my initiative, cause if one day I stop, really I'll fall along with the whole world. Be greatful when you have people who are so concerned with their people's wellbeing, they are really someone you HAVE to take your hat off to. They are people who are willing to sacrifice their time/help for those who are worse of than them. They are people who sparked off those charity fund-raising events for people who are in NEED of the help. I just don't understand those people who actually even had the audacity to even think like this “So-so will be able to do that/raise that sum of money for his patients, let's just seat back and watch people/them suffer etc” When such things fall on you, you better pray that someone will be KIND enough to offer help/lend a helping hand, cause you won't know what will happen in the future. Don't you feel embarrass about not lending a helping hand? Don't you feel that you could have at least chip in or something along the line...? Crap, you'll never understand the feeling of helplessness...
